We are here to help during challenging times.
Lifetime Adoption has helped thousands of women in all sorts of difficult situations, from all racial, economic, and religious backgrounds – women just like you. We’ve learned over many years how to best support parents in crisis as they think about adoption for their child. Working with our trained adoption staff will give you the opportunity to make the best decisions for you and your child.
We understand that placing your child for adoption is a very difficult decision made out of love for your child. If you are in a situation that you feel an adoption is an option, call or text a Lifetime Adoption coordinator. She will help you understand the process and all your options. She can also put you in contact with a professional counselor or peer counselor at no cost to you.
Here are some questions you should ask yourself if you are considering placing your toddler or older child for adoption:
Have I explored all the resources available to me?
You can contact social services in your community and find out about programs that could improve your situation.
Do you feel with some help, your circumstances could improve to a point you could parent your child?
Perhaps a temporary guardianship would be ideal. You can legally place your child with someone you know and trust for a period of time until you can parent again.
Do you have family members who would be interested in adopting your child?
Kinship adoption with older children can be easier on the child if the adopting family is loving and prepared to parent. The transition can be easier when the child is familiar with the adopting family. The family will have to have a home study that includes background and financial checks along with interviews and a home visit.
Is adoption going to be the best solution for my child and myself?
There are many, many reasons parents consider adoption for their child. If you feel it is in your child’s best interest, your Lifetime adoption coordinator will walk you through the process. She will help you choose the parents for your child, draft a Post Adoption Contact Agreement, and provide counseling for you and the child if appropriate. A professional counselor will help create a transition plan that is designed just for you, your child, and the adoptive family.
Reach out by calling or texting a Lifetime Adoption coordinator with any questions or concerns you might have. We will provide all the information you need to make the right decision for you and your child.
